Polls

Dateline Left Coast 8:30 AM:

I was just going to get ready to head off for the Strawberry Festival in Watsonville, to be followed by the Scottish Games in Salinas, when I made the mistake of turning on PMSNBC.

They are all so tickled that the President's poll numbers are down.

Well, they have the polls and we have the White House.

When are they going to learn that this president is not poll driven? When are they going to learn that doing what is right is not a popularity contest? When are they going to learn that, unlike some presidents, this one does not wet his finger and hold it up to the wind before doing what needs to be done?

Apparently never.

They do not understand this man at all. They seem just amazed. Morality in their view, judging by their words and demeanor, should change with passing whims.

You can agree or disagree with what we have done in Iraq. There are debatable points there. (I'm a paleo-con on that subject.) But to be so relativist that they expect people to change course based upon polls is really alarming.

As Churchill said, "What sort of people do they think we are?"
